Bodyaga peeling at home: what is this procedure and how to care for your face?

Bodyaga peeling is one of the ways to carry out chemical treatment of facial skin without visiting a salon. Bodyaga has long been considered the most effective method of combating spots, bruises and abrasions. But few people know about its amazing cosmetic properties. There are many recipes and ways to use the substance to rejuvenate and preserve the beauty of the face and body for many years. Traditional medicine uses it to treat scrofula. The ancient remedy bodyaga

What is this powder? Bodyaga (or badyaga) is a powder obtained from the freshwater sponge bodyaga. This is an ancient remedy that has long been used to resolve stagnant spots, hematomas, and bruises. This product is not only cosmetic, but also therapeutic, since it has a strong exfoliating effect.

This freshwater sponge is found everywhere on underwater rocks and snags. Its color is sometimes yellow, sometimes green, sometimes brown. You can find this sponge in many reservoirs in Russia. It looks unpleasant: a mucous mass with a repulsive odor.

The cosmetic uses of bodyaga are very extensive.

Operating principle and effective result of exfoliation with bodyaga

The tradition of doing peeling with bodyaga (also correctly “badyaga”) came to us from Ancient Rus'. Our enterprising ancestors treated wounds, scars and wounds with it. It was also used for skin rejuvenation.

Modern fashionistas who want to achieve effective cleansing and rejuvenation of their skin are happy to resort to an ancient remedy. Thanks to modern technologies and the use of centuries-old experience accumulated by our predecessors, peelings and other cosmetics with bodyaga in modern versions give even greater results.

Did you know? Many fashionistas, without delving into the question, believe that badyaga belongs to the plant family. In fact, this coelenterate is a freshwater sponge that is repulsive in appearance and actually resembles a plant.

After exfoliation of the described type, the following processes occur in the epidermis:

  • increased protection against irritants and bacteria;
  • increased tone;
  • cell strengthening;
  • renewal of skin fibers and regeneration;
  • stimulation of the blood circulation process;
  • stimulating activity and nutrients in the body.

As a result, at home, without much effort, you can achieve the same skin improvement results that are achieved with expensive and sometimes painful salon procedures.

Now let's look at the effect you will get by using this miracle cure:

  • rapid resorption of microcracks and bruises;
  • drying effect, which is especially useful for oily skin, pimples and rashes go away, post-acne pores tighten;
  • by activating nutritional components and stimulating blood microcirculation, epidermal cells are strengthened, the skin gains strength and the ability to more actively protect itself from external aggressors;
  • a lifting effect that occurs due to the activation of regeneration processes: bumps and pits are smoothed out, wrinkles disappear or become less pronounced. The face acquires a clear and tightened contour.
  • The dermis is cleansed - corky sebaceous formations, keratinized layers, and dead cells are removed.

Sometimes just one procedure is enough to achieve the effect.

Cosmetic effect of using a sponge

Bodyaga (or badyaga) has the ability to intensively exfoliate damaged skin, due to which cosmetology decades ago used this powder for:

  • restoration of aging skin;
  • resurfacing damaged epidermis;
  • removal of old skin;
  • smoothing or complete removal of wrinkles;
  • removal of pigment spots, scars, deep marks after acne.

This powder not only copes with damage to the skin, but also has a pronounced rejuvenating effect, since it literally cleans off the top layer, leaving “new” undamaged skin. Therefore, peeling with badyaga is done not only to combat skin defects, but also for a rejuvenating effect in general.

What creams with bodyaga can be purchased in the mass market?

Today there are many different creams on the market, the component of which is badyaga. If you have not yet decided which skin care creams to use, consider offers from brands such as:

  • Skimed;
  • Farmakom;
  • Dina +;
  • LPVC "Garni";
  • VIS, etc.

More and more manufacturers are paying attention to badyagu, which has great healing powers. The effectiveness of this remedy, proven over centuries, when viewed through the prism of modernity, promises even greater achievements in the field of cosmetology.

How does peeling work?

Badyagi peeling activates skin respiration, deeply cleanses pores of dirt and sebum (blackheads). The cells are saturated with oxygen, so aging skin regains its former elasticity, small wrinkles are smoothed out, and fine lines and wrinkles become less pronounced. Also, peeling with bodyaga powder reduces the activity of the sebaceous glands.

Judging by numerous reviews, facial peeling with badyaga helps get rid of marks and blemishes, as well as narrow pores after just a few procedures.

Options and usage patterns

Most often, for a more pronounced effect, hydrogen peroxide is used - the powder is diluted with it. For some, this procedure may be too aggressive, but others note only a slight warmth upon application - the reaction is very individual. However, it is advisable not to use hydrogen peroxide too often, so as not to dry out the epidermis.

So, there are several options for the procedure:

  1. Peeling with hydrogen peroxide. The most powerful procedure. Usually it is performed for the first time when there are a lot of defects on the face - deep marks and spots, extensive age spots.
  2. Diluting the powder with water. This is a “softened” peeling option if the first one turns out to be too aggressive.
  3. Diluting the powder with vegetable (base) oil. This is the mildest version of the procedure for those who are afraid to peel their face with bodyaga and peroxide.

Peeling scheme

1. If you dilute the powder with vegetable oil, then in order to obtain a uniform consistency, you can warm it up a little in a water bath. 2. If this is not the first time you are peeling with bodyagi powder, you can apply the composition warm - this will make the procedure more effective. If it’s the first time, then it’s better not to do that. 3. Rinse or shake off the dried mixture from your face. 4. If your skin is irritated, you can sprinkle it with baby powder. 5. If the redness or burning sensation is strong, then lubricate your face with “d-Panthenol” or another remedy for burns that you have tested. 6. It is advisable not to go anywhere after the procedure, but if you need to go somewhere, then do not use any cosmetics, even powder. 7. You can soften and soothe the skin with a rich cream. To protect your face from the environment after the procedure, you can use soothing and moisturizing creams, but without too active ingredients (for example, anti-aging ones).

How often to cleanse

Bodyaga powder is considered a highly effective remedy, so its use should be taken more seriously and not overdo it.

The duration of the cleansing course is affected by the depth and degree of defects, but the number of sessions should not exceed 10. Take a short break between peelings, at least 5 days. Do not do more than two courses of such peelings per year so as not to dry out the skin.

If your skin problems are more serious, try combining bodyaga with peroxide. But peeling sessions need to be done once a month, not more often.

How many procedures to do

Bodyaga facial peeling is very powerful, because, as we said, it exfoliates the top layer of the epidermis, so the effect is visible after 2-3 procedures. If the defects are not too pronounced - after the first procedure.

If there is damage to the skin - noticeable scars, acne spots, acne marks, large pores, then a course of procedures will be needed. So, you will have to do home peeling with bodyaga at least 10 times. Based on the condition of your skin, you will understand exactly how many treatments you need and when you should stop.

Very important: do not torture your skin by removing the damaged layer with daily procedures! Some do just that, peeling off the old skin literally to the point of bloody crusts. This is not safe and very harmful!

Move towards your intended goal slowly, without injury or damage to the skin.

To wash off or not to wash off

The procedure with badyaga can be done according to two schemes: rinse off the composition with water or shake off the dried mask.

What is the difference?

For many, washing off the mask with water turns out to be too painful: the reddened skin after the procedure is too sensitive for water. Therefore, in this case, it is better not to wash off the composition, so as not to rub your face again, but to gently shake it off your face with a cotton sponge.

In the morning, moisturize your face with cream. You can periodically dust it with baby powder.

How to apply bodyagu

The effect of peeling with badyaga largely depends on how you apply it. The paste is applied to a cleansed, damp face, then either simply left as a mask, or massaged (rubbed) onto the face. The more actively you massage, the more peeling the skin will be.

Be careful: if you massage your face, the skin will turn red and literally “burn.” If this scares you, then it’s better not to massage, but just leave the mask on for 10 minutes. Usually the redness subsides at night, but in the morning the face will be a little ruddy.

If you simply apply the powder and leave it on as a mask, the intensity of peeling will be low. Some people prefer to actively massage their face in order to exfoliate damaged skin in one procedure. But peeling in this case can last 2-3 days, after which you will be left with uniform, smooth, fresh skin.

A gentle option for using bodyagi: if you have a spot left after a pimple, apply the bodyaga pulp only to it, rub gently, and the spot will disappear after peeling.

Making masks from badyagi

The composition of each mask has a complex effect on the skin, but some specificity of the additional components determines the specific purpose of the different mixtures.

Universal mask

A universal remedy for a comprehensive effect on problem areas of the skin, smoothing its structure and lightening age spots - a face mask made from badyagi diluted with boiled or mineral still water.

To make it, take a 5-gram bag of badyagi and water heated to a temperature of 40 degrees (50 ml). Water is poured into the dry mixture in small portions and everything is mixed until a homogeneous thick mass is formed.

The resulting warm mixture is distributed over the skin with circular massage movements.

After a quarter of an hour, the dried mask is washed off with running water.

Reinforced mask

It is prepared from badyagi powder (5 g), badyagi gel (1 tsp) and hot water (50 ml). The dry powder is diluted with hot water, then the required amount of gel is added to the resulting mixture. Mix everything thoroughly and apply to the face. After 10-15 minutes, the mask is washed off and the skin is moisturized with a light, non-greasy cream.

Rejuvenating mask

In most cases, honey, cosmetic oils, and oatmeal are used as additional components in anti-aging masks.

To make a mask with oatmeal, you need the following:

  • badyagi powder (5 ml);
  • oatmeal (30 ml);
  • kefir (cream) (30 ml).

All components are mixed, the resulting mixture is applied to cleansed skin and left for 20 minutes. Then wash off with water.

From badyagi with clay

Depending on the desired result, I use white, blue or black clay in combination with badyaga.

The unique mineral composition of various types of clay gives them the following properties:

  • blue clay has a lifting effect;
  • black – removes oily shine, dries the skin;
  • white – whitens the skin.

The recipe for making masks is the same, regardless of what type of clay is used. 5 mg of badyagi is mixed with 5 mg of dry clay and diluted with boiled water at room temperature. 15 minutes after application, remove the mask using a cotton pad.

From badyagi and honey

A face mask made from badyagi and bee honey nourishes and tones, heals microcracks, and has an anti-inflammatory effect. To make it, a packet of badyagi powder (or 5 ml of gel) needs to be diluted with 1 tbsp. l. liquid honey.

The resulting mass is applied to cleansed skin and left for 15 minutes. After this time, the mask is removed with warm running water.

From badyagi with peroxide

The classic mask contains 2 components and has whitening and disinfecting properties. Badyagi powder is diluted with 3% hydrogen peroxide to the state of liquid sour cream and, after foam formation, is applied to the face.

To prevent burns (due to the mutual enhancement of the properties of the components included in the mixture), the exposure time of the mask should be limited to 10 minutes. The mask is washed off with running water.

From badyagi and yeast

This combination has a pronounced exfoliating effect. It is advisable to use such peeling to cleanse oily skin.

Prepare a mask from dry yeast and badyagi, mixed in equal proportions (5 ml each) and diluted with 15 ml of cream. The thick mixture is evenly distributed over previously cleansed skin and rubbed in with smooth massaging movements for 2 minutes. After this, wash your face thoroughly with warm water and moisturize with cream.

What to do after peeling

After peeling with bodyaga, certain post-procedure care is required. Important: after peeling with badyaga and before the peeling process begins, do not use any creams. The skin can be wiped with salicylic alcohol and powdered with powder. Post-procedure care requires that you do not wash your face with water or use cosmetics, especially foundation.

If you hope that foundation will hide flaking, you are mistaken - it will only emphasize them!

Why wipe your skin with salicylic alcohol? So it will begin to peel off more intensely. You can wipe your face for 2-3 days so that the removal of the damaged layer begins and ends sooner.

Once the top layer of the epidermis begins to peel, use moisturizers (ideally organic or baby-based) to soothe and restore the skin. The more hydration, the better!

Is it possible to do body peeling and then go out in the sun? In no case!

If you need to go out the day after the procedure, be sure to use sunscreen.

You are not allowed to sunbathe during the course!

After peeling, when the skin is already peeling off, it is necessary to use a sunscreen with protection 20 or higher. It's better not to go outside. Don't sunbathe! The skin becomes photosensitive and if you sunbathe, it will become covered with spots. When using a course of such masks, it is necessary to use a cream with a protective factor SPF.

Is it possible to do badyaga peeling in the summer? It is strongly not recommended for the reason described above: like any other fairly strong peeling, badyaga can cause age spots in the summer.

Stages of preparation and application of the product

  1. Wear gloves before preparing the mixture.
  2. Cotton swabs must be installed before mixing begins.
  3. Apply the prescription substance using a brush to cleansed and dry skin of the face and neck, avoiding the area around the eyes and lips.
  4. After the exposure time has expired, the mask is washed off with plenty of warm water without cosmetics or rolled off with massaging movements (if you want to enhance the effect).
  5. Cooled kefir is applied to the treated areas for 15–20 minutes to complete the reaction and relieve irritation and redness of the skin. It is not recommended to smear the face with a greasy cream immediately after the procedure.

Why is bodyaga dangerous?

As we have already said, there is a twofold attitude towards bodyaga: some actively use it, while others call it the most traumatic method of exfoliation.

The fact is that the principle of action of this powder is to damage the skin. Dried thistle is a kind of thorn. Its spicules - microscopic needles - when rubbed into the skin, cause microtraumas, thus removing the upper damaged layer. This is why modern cosmetology does not use bodyaga for exfoliation, preferring acids that dissolve the top or middle layer.

But at the same time, for many, peeling with this powder turns out to be the most effective and affordable way to reduce age spots and acne marks.

Tips and Cautions

Peeling with bodyaga and peroxide is used on a clean face without inflammation. If you have inflammation on your skin, peeling is strictly prohibited, as it will only worsen its condition!

  1. Be extremely careful, examine your face before the procedure - if there are inflamed areas, treat the skin first.
  2. Regularly performing the procedure can provoke the growth of excess hairs, so if you have a predisposition to hypertrichosis, it is better not to do this procedure.
  3. Peeling based on bodyaga powder may be too aggressive for sensitive skin.
  4. If you have very dry thin skin, then it is better to dilute the powder with oil.
  5. Exfoliation with bodyaga can only be done during the period of minimal sun activity - from October to March.
  6. The most effective peeling is done with powder. Bodyaga in gel form does not provide such an exfoliating effect. Never pick off flaky areas on your face, otherwise you will damage the skin and it will take a long time to heal.

Be sure to listen to our recommendations so as not to harm yourself!

Is it possible to do bodyaga peeling at home?

Bodyaga powder can be bought at any pharmacy today. It is packaged in small bags and is easy to use. Due to the low cost and availability of this product, many women carry out the procedure themselves at home. But even after studying a lot of material on this topic and reading about precautions, you cannot be one hundred percent sure that peeling without the supervision of a cosmetologist will not result in serious health problems. You may incorrectly determine your skin type and fail to recognize dermatological diseases for which body peeling is contraindicated.

Peeling with bodyaga at home is possible if your cosmetologist has already performed a similar procedure in his office and has written out a ready-made recipe tailored specifically to your skin type for further regular use at home. But even in this case, before starting, it is necessary to consult a dermatologist to exclude contraindications.

Hydrogen peroxide peeling recipe

One of the most effective and at the same time simple peelings is bodyagi and hydrogen peroxide. And this peeling, despite its amazing performance, is incredibly cheap!

Bodyaga has a powerful exfoliating effect on the skin. And with the keratinized upper layer of the epidermis, unnecessary pigmentation, unevenness, and post-acne disappear.

After such a “thermonuclear” peeling, the skin becomes evenly elastic, with pores no longer visible. And this is the only composition that is almost equal in effect to a salon procedure. However, it is not recommended to carry out more than one peeling at a time, since its impact is very strong.

The preparation is simple:

  • 6 g of cosmetic bodyaga (standard pharmaceutical powder)
  • 3% hydrogen peroxide

The powder is properly mixed with hydrogen peroxide. It is necessary that a fairly thick paste forms (so that it does not run off your face). You can see the finished composition in the photo.

Do you want a super effect? Massage the mixture onto your skin. But keep in mind that the effect is powerful! Your face will then resemble a ripe tomato.

Do you want a more gentle effect? Just apply and leave for 10-15 minutes. Afterwards, rinse thoroughly with plenty of water.

You should know: after the “badyazh” peeling, the skin itches and flakes for several days in a row. There is no need to be scared - this is normal.

Contraindications

The procedure of cleansing the skin with bodyaga is not allowed for everyone. You should avoid peeling if one of the following factors is present:

  • There is an allergy to the product;
  • There are pockets of inflammation and purulent rashes on the face;
  • There are open and bleeding wounds;
  • Skin is very dry;
  • If you have rosacea or spider veins on your face;
  • For patients with certain skin diseases such as rosacea, furunculosis.

It is not recommended to use skin peeling with bodyaga for clients with increased hairiness (hypertrichosis) or a predisposition to it, so as not to complicate the situation and increase hair growth.
