According to doctors, acne in a teenager is normal - why?

Many young people suffer from teenage acne on the face, accompanied by red spots and white ulcers. Acne mainly occurs in those with oily skin types. Abundant secretion of secretions, necessary to maintain the required level of moisture in the skin, can clog pores. And since both dust and dead particles accumulate on the skin, an inflammatory process develops at the site of comedone formation.

It is necessary to properly and timely treat acne during adolescence, which will prevent the development of similar problems in the future. Otherwise, the inflammation will worsen, and scars may appear on the skin of the face, which are difficult to disguise even with decorative cosmetics.

Causes of acne on the face in teenagers

The age of 12 - 18 years is characterized as a period of puberty, during which the production of keratin and sebum occurs intensively. The latter can clog pores, causing the skin around the oily plugs to become inflamed. This is how the classic development of acne occurs in teenagers, which is called acne. Up to 85% of adolescents suffer from rashes that appear on the face, neck, chest, shoulder girdle, and back.

There are other causes of acne in teenagers.

  1. Hereditary factor . If parents had the same skin problems, then their children may develop acne during adolescence.
  2. Medicines . There are drugs that provoke the development of acne. These medications are used to treat chronic diseases. For example, drugs for epilepsy, hormonal and others.
  3. Cosmetical tools . If oil-based cosmetics are used for makeup, this contributes to clogging of pores during adolescence.
  4. Squeezing pimples . If a teenager squeezes out single pimples, the infection can spread further.
  5. Prolonged wearing of backpacks, bicycle helmets, narrow collars . At the same time, acne appears in places where the skin is compressed.
  6. Menstruation in girls . A week before the start of your period, hormones are released, which causes acne.
  7. Vitamin deficiency . If a teenager does not eat properly, the body does not receive enough vitamin A, a B complex, which can cause a rash not only on the face, but throughout the body.

“Plump lips gave me self-confidence.”

2016 - the beginning of building the Kylie Jenner empire. Enlarged lips, breasts and a huge number of other surgical interventions.

The photo on the left is Camila then. Right - now

“What thin and ugly lips I have!” – thought sixteen-year-old me. My mother was always in favor of getting rid of complexes, so, realizing that this was really important, she took me to her trusted cosmetologist. Did I think about pain or any negative consequences? The answer is obvious - no. My brain was occupied by complexes and the belief that without voluminous lips I look simply monstrous.

After a twenty-minute procedure, they gave me a mirror, and I couldn’t look at myself enough. I wanted to take photos all the time, although I have practically no “before” photos. I stopped searching in agony for lip pencils that matched the color of my pigment: before, I couldn’t leave the house without makeup and always painted my lips so that they seemed bigger. I began to confidently look people in the face when talking to them, because I no longer had to worry that they would notice my flaw. And yes, everything went easier with the boys too. Plump lips gave me more self-confidence, and from the age of eighteen, when I already had every right to visit a cosmetologist without my mother’s accompaniment, other injection procedures were used. Each time I found new shortcomings in myself, which recently I considered advantages. The dimple on her chin, which she considered a highlight, suddenly began to constantly catch my eye in the mirror. The hump on the nose, barely noticeable, suddenly became a problem that prevented me from living happily. And many, many little things that my first cosmetologist readily noticed every time.

In four years, I have never allowed the hyaluronic acid in my lips to dissolve. As soon as they lost a little volume, I ran to the cosmetologist again.

I don’t know how it would have ended if I hadn’t gotten a job at the reception desk of a cosmetology and plastic surgery clinic. And there it was as if I saw myself from the outside: in hundreds of girls with a total rejection of themselves and their bodies.

The problems they invented for themselves reached the point of absurdity. They dreamed of removing wrinkles on their knees, visible only to them, and often asked to make an appointment with a cosmetologist not for something specific, but “for something, I don’t know, let him look at it.” And there are 2-3 such requests per day. Our clinic had a hypnologist-psychotherapist on staff. The doctor sent patients to him who clearly could no longer adequately assess their appearance. But not everyone made it.

You can try a million times to convince yourself that Instagram and other social networks have no influence, but for me it was enough to see it from the outside. At age 20, I finally removed hyaluronic acid from my lips.

Types of acne on the face in teenagers

Acne on the face is not a particularly serious health problem, but it causes mental harm in adolescence. That is why it is necessary to treat them, but first you need to find out the type of rash. This can be done by a specialist - a dermatologist. Making a diagnosis yourself, much less prescribing treatment for yourself, is categorically not recommended.

Experts distinguish the following types of rash on the face:

  • acne - inflamed red bumps on top of which pus accumulates;
  • comedones are small cysts of skin pores that look like black dots. However, the so-called “blackness” is not dirt, but accumulated bacteria, dead cells and fat that has oxidized;
  • papules, or pustules , are painful, swollen formations that become inflamed due to infection entering the clogged follicle;
  • cysts are deep-seated pimples filled with pus.

Homemade face masks

As experience has shown, acne therapy in girls gives positive results when using the following homemade masks:

  1. A protein mask is not only very effective, but also easy to prepare. In order to prepare a mask from egg white, you need to take the white, beat it until foam forms, and then treat the skin with it. Before the procedure, thoroughly clean the skin. Keep the mask on for 15 minutes and then remove with water. This composition will not help completely get rid of acne, but the epidermis will become lighter, red spots will go away and the pores will narrow.
  2. A baking soda-based mask will not take much time to prepare. In addition, the presented product can be found in the kitchen of any family. To prepare a mask from soda, you need to take a little soda and dilute it with a small amount of water. Apply the resulting mixture to your face and leave for 20 minutes. Rinse with water, after which you can feel the softness and cleanliness of the skin.
  3. Acne in girls can be treated with a yeast mask . To obtain it, you need to combine 10 g of the main ingredient and 50 g of water. Mix the weight, add 5 drops of lemon juice. When the composition has been applied to the face, wait 20 minutes, and after the specified time, remove the mask with water. Find out about all the benefits of a yeast mask at the link.
  4. A potato-based mask allows you to remove old acne on your face. Take a vegetable, boil, crush and combine with cream - 2 tablespoons, yolk and honey - 1 dessert spoon. If you regularly apply a mask to your face, you can remove the white internal pimple. You can find out about other masks with starch for acne in this material.

How to deal with acne

How to treat acne? Treatment methods for boys and girls are largely similar, but there are also differences. This is explained by the different structure of the skin, as well as the characteristics of the male and female body.

In boys

To cure acne, you should definitely take into account that the skin of boys is rougher, and the secretion secreted by the sebaceous glands is thick and viscous. This is why you need to cleanse your skin first. Maintaining good hygiene and following the following rules play an important role:

  • systematically remove sebaceous secretions and impurities from the facial area;
  • You can use soap no more than 2 times a week, as it can dry out the skin, and as a result, the activity of the sebaceous glands will only increase;
  • It is recommended to use a special cleansing milk or gel when washing your face in the morning and evening, then wipe the skin with a lotion or tonic that does not contain alcohol;
  • Do not use hot water for washing or shaving, as heat helps to dilate blood vessels and activate the activity of the sebaceous glands.

For girls

When treating acne in a teenage girl, medications should be used depending on the skin type. You need to cleanse your skin in the morning or afternoon using a mild cleanser. In the evening, use stronger pharmaceutical products. When treating acne in girls, hormonal drugs can be used that affect the amount of hormones in the body. But only a doctor should prescribe them. During the treatment period, girls should limit the use of decorative cosmetics.

Use of drugs

The pharmaceutical industry offers a wide range of medications to get rid of acne. Let's get acquainted with effective and affordable means:

  • salicylic acid solution – helps cleanse pores, normalize the functioning of the sebaceous glands, and dry out acne;
  • mash - has an antibacterial, cleansing and drying effect, relieves inflammation; prepared in a pharmacy according to a prescription from a dermatologist, which is drawn up for a specific patient;
  • tar soap – deeply cleanses pores, removes excess sebum, has an antibacterial effect;
  • sulfur ointment is an antibacterial and antifungal agent used in the treatment of demodicosis (if the cause of the rash is a subcutaneous mite);
  • zinc ointment - dries, reduces swelling and redness, helps restore the skin, but is used in short courses, since long-term use can cause clogging of pores;
  • Brewer's yeast - tablets for internal use that normalize metabolism, replenish the body with B vitamins, help cleanse toxins, and stabilize the amount of hormones.

If cases of rashes on the face are advanced or severe, medications based on azelaic acid, antibacterial components, and retinoids are prescribed. Only a specialist prescribes treatment in each specific case, taking into account the severity of the disease, the characteristics of the skin, and the age of the patient. You should be aware that many medications are contraindicated for adolescents under 12 years of age.

Cosmetical tools

A very important point when treating rashes at home is daily facial skin care. To do this, you should choose the following cosmetics:

  • alcohol-free gel;
  • tonic that helps remove residual impurities and disinfect the skin;
  • cream that reduces the oiliness of the skin.

Cleansers

For the treatment to be successful, it is imperative to cleanse not only the skin of impurities, but also the entire body of toxins and waste. One of the effective cleansing drugs is Polysorb, which is taken orally. You can also use Lactofiltrum tablets to remove toxins from the body. The drugs are prescribed by the doctor!

Cosmetology procedures for young skin

Using a vacuum

The cosmetologist uses a special device to move it over the affected areas to eliminate excess sebum. The procedure itself is completely painless and gives noticeable results after 5-15 procedures, it all depends on the complexity of the disease. Simultaneously with the removal of excess sebaceous secretion, a massage occurs, which increases the circulation of lymph and blood, which has a beneficial effect on the skin. You should not use a vacuum if there is severe inflammation with ulcers. After the sessions, it is recommended to treat the skin with special antibacterial agents and avoid decorative cosmetics for the entire course of therapy.

Using Ultrasound

During this procedure, the girl’s skin is exposed to special waves of a specific length, which removes all dead skin cells and opens the pores. Sebum comes to the surface, allowing skin cells to breathe and function normally. The procedure is one of the most gentle, painless and shows excellent results. It is also recommended to conduct at least five sessions of ultrasound irradiation to obtain a pronounced therapeutic result.

Attention! The possibility of using such procedures should be checked not only with a cosmetologist, but also with a pediatrician and pediatric gynecologist, as they may have a number of serious contraindications. If the treatment is poorly tolerated, it is canceled immediately, without trying to reduce the dose or reduce the session time.

What not to do

Many people with acne make many mistakes, which makes the problem worse. Let's look at what can interfere with recovery.

  1. The opinion is that acne in teenagers cannot be eliminated, and the problem will go away on its own . In this regard, it is worth noting that if there are fat plugs in the pores and the skin is not well-groomed, then acne will appear at any age.
  2. Seeking advice from friends and family . What works for one may not work for another. Only a specialist will prescribe the correct treatment after the examination.
  3. Squeezing pimples on the face . This can cause the infection to spread and cause even more pimples. It is worth knowing that the most dangerous area on the face is its middle - from the bridge of the nose to the chin.
  4. Rare or frequent washing . You should wash your face with warm water in the morning and evening, using mild soap - salicylic or glycerin - several times a week.
  5. Makeup left overnight .
  6. Frequent use of alcohol lotions , which dry out the skin but provoke even more sebum secretion.
  7. The use of cosmetics based on oil, which contributes to clogging of pores.
  8. Using foundation to disguise acne , which makes acne even more inflamed.

Traditional methods

If cases of rashes are isolated and do not have a serious cause, then traditional methods of treatment have a good effect. They are natural and with maximum side effects.

Folk remedies for acne include:

  1. Aloe juice. It is used as a lotion or rubbed on the skin daily.
  2. Wormwood. 2 tbsp. spoons of herbs are poured into a glass of boiled water and used as a compress.
  3. Plantain herb. It is recommended to wipe the inflamed areas of the face with fresh plantain juice.
  4. St. John's wort. A small amount of dried flowers and leaves is poured with two glasses of boiling water, and then boiled for 25 minutes. The decoction is useful for wiping the face in the morning.
  5. Calendula. Calendula tincture helps with acne scars. They rub the sore spots with it 4-5 times a day.
  6. Celandine. A handful of celandine is poured with boiling water and left for 2 hours. After filtering, lotions are applied to pustular lesions.
  7. An infusion of birch buds is used for daily rubbing of the skin.
  8. Sage and chamomile. Herbs are mixed in equal quantities, brewed and wiped on the face. The decoction works well to tighten pores and lighten blackheads.
