Is it possible to cure acne on your own at home?

Treatment of acne at home is possible along with regular visits to the doctor.

If you need to achieve maximum effect by coping with acne in the shortest possible time, using only medications will not work .

It is necessary to follow certain rules, as well as apply folk recipes, which together will save a person from blackheads.

Clay

If your entire face is covered in acne, you should be careful when using any cleansing method. This is why clay is the best solution. It is able to draw out impurities from the skin and in this way eliminate even subcutaneous acne.

To make a mask you need to take:

  • black clay – 2 tbsp. l.;
  • mineral water – 2.5 tbsp. l.

Mix all ingredients in a bowl and apply to cleansed face. It is advisable to wash your face with warm water and cleansing gel before using the product.

Apply the mask in a thick layer and keep for 20-30 minutes. Afterwards, you need to wash off the clay with plenty of warm liquid. When the cosmetic product is completely removed from the skin, you need to rinse your face with cold water. This will close the pores and prevent impurities from getting inside.

For the best effect, it is recommended to add honey, herbal decoctions, aloe or lemon juice to the clay mixture.

The procedure must be carried out daily in the first week. After the clay, more acne may appear, but it quickly goes away with the use of masks.

When obvious improvements are noticeable, the number of procedures should be reduced to 3 times a week. Clay can be applied in different types, depending on the desired result. Black is good for fighting acne, and blue thoroughly and deeply cleanses.

Is it possible to exfoliate skin with acne?

Peeling helps exfoliate the stratum corneum of the epidermis, cleanse pores, and accelerate cell regeneration. The procedure is carried out using abrasive compounds, fruit acids or degrading keratolytic enzymes. The choice of peeling largely depends on the type of problem that needs to be solved. 171

In the presence of inflammatory elements, mechanical peeling is not performed. Exposure to abrasives can damage the cap of the abscess* and spread the infection. Superficial peeling is allowed, but when performing the procedure, the skin should be thoroughly disinfected and large areas of inflammation should be avoided. 171

Aspirin

Aspirin helps get rid of acne and blackheads at home. It gently dries out pimples and allows them to mature, and its cleansing properties help in the fight against clogged pores.

To make a mask from aspirin you need to take:

  • aspirin – 4 tablets;
  • water – 1 tbsp.

The tablets must be crushed to a powder and mixed with liquid until mushy. The mixture is applied to previously cleansed and steamed skin. The product must be kept until completely dry. Then rinse with warm water.

For better effect, crushed tablets can be mixed with honey. And also, for a small number of rashes, it is recommended to apply the mixture pointwise.

Aspirin masks have antibacterial and anti-inflammatory properties. In order to get rid of inflammation forever, it is recommended to use them 2 times a week.

The effect is observed immediately after the first application. The pimples will dry out and the redness will go away, the skin will look renewed.

Laser resurfacing

This is one of the types of peeling, which is carried out using a laser device. Laser energy has a thermal effect on the skin, accelerates the coagulation of proteins, destroys old cells and activates regeneration processes, including in the deep layers of the epidermis.

In terms of effectiveness, laser resurfacing can be compared to medium and deep peeling with fruit acids. But when using a laser, you can control the depth of its impact.

Laser resurfacing is considered one of the most effective methods of combating scarring of the skin. The procedure helps improve the condition of acne skin, so it is often performed to correct and eliminate the consequences of the disease. But in the presence of multiple inflammatory elements, laser resurfacing is not performed. 172

Homemade tonic for teenagers

The best solution for teenagers is not to aggravate the problem by squeezing pimples. At the age of 14, acne appears due to hormonal changes and oily skin, as well as improper care. Homemade toner is great for removing teenage pimples.

To make it, you need to take the following ingredients:

  • acetylsalicylic acid – 1 pack;
  • vodka – 0.7 l.;
  • boric acid – 1 sachet.

Crush the tablets to flour and mix with the alcohol component. Then add boric acid and mix everything well. Pour the mixture into a convenient container for use.

Apply tonic after washing. It should be applied to cleansed epidermis with a cotton pad and left until completely dry. A white coating will appear on the face; it must be washed off.

Apply toner to your face using patting movements, not rubbing. Aspirin and boric acid particles can damage abscesses when rubbed.

Apply twice a day after cleansing procedures until the problem disappears completely. Store tonic in the refrigerator.

Microcurrent therapy

Microcurrent therapy uses a modulated pulse current of ultra-low amplitude (strength), from 0 to 1000 μA, and a frequency from 0.1 to 500 Hz. Cells are activated by affecting their membrane potential (the difference in electrical potential that occurs between the charges on the inside and outside of the cell membrane). Microcurrents correct the pathologically altered membrane potential of damaged cells, and this normalizes the selective passage of ions through the membrane through ion channels from the cell to the external environment and back. In this way, a number of processes in the cell are normalized, such as the synthesis of ATP (adenosine triphosphate, which is a universal source of energy for all biochemical processes occurring in living systems), maintaining a constant ionic composition and water content.

A distinctive feature of microcurrent therapy is its ability to simultaneously influence the epidermis, dermis, subcutaneous fat, lymphatic and blood vessels, facial muscles, and indirectly, working at the cellular level. By optimizing the vital processes of cells, microcurrents restore the functional activity of tissues. There is a mild and physiological effect with minimal contraindications, and this allows the technique to be used to solve a wide range of problems.

Microcurrents change the tone of the vascular wall, increasing blood circulation, improving lymph flow and trophism (nutrition) of tissues, promoting the removal of intercellular fluid, resulting in a decrease in skin swelling, inflammation, and the likelihood of rosacea.

Microcurrents can be included in an acne treatment program as an adjuvant, but not for the correction of acne in the active phase. Using this method, you can eliminate fresh post-acne scars by improving tissue trophism. Microcurrent therapy is perfectly combined with other methods of acne and post-acne correction (for example, laser resurfacing), which together gives an excellent result.

Saline spray

Salt has disinfecting and drying effects. It is these properties that help quickly eliminate acne on the face during adolescence.

To prepare the spray, you need to take the following ingredients:

  • mineral water – 0.5 l.;
  • sea salt – 4 tbsp.

Grind the salt using a coffee grinder until it becomes flour, then mix with mineral water. Pour the liquid into a container with a sprayer.

Use the spray after washing your face 2 times a day; when applying, close your eyes so that the saline solution does not get into them. Keep refrigerated.

Also, to achieve a better effect, it is recommended to make salt masks additionally 2 times a week. To do this, apply a mixture of salt and liquid to the affected areas and hold for 5-10 minutes.

It is not recommended to keep the mixture on the cover for longer, as this may cause irritation. You need to wash off the product without rubbing the grains of salt with plenty of water. Apply moisturizer afterwards, as salt dries out the skin greatly.

Is facial cleansing allowed for acne?

Manual, hardware, vacuum, ultrasonic, galvanic cleanings help remove impurities and sebaceous plugs from pores, smooth out the relief of the epidermis, and improve cellular respiration.

To achieve better results, hardware techniques are often combined with manual cleaning. However, despite the high effectiveness of facial cleansing, it should be abandoned if there are pustules and other inflammatory elements.170

Tea tree oil for teenagers

Tea tree oil will help you get rid of acne at home. It effectively cleanses pores by regulating the activity of the sebaceous glands. Also has antiseptic properties. Using tea tree oil for acne helps quickly remove redness, swelling and wounds from inflammation, in particular acne scars.

The product must be applied at night after evening care. It is enough to distribute 3-4 drops over the entire affected surface. In the morning, wash off the residue. This method will eliminate rashes and redness in a short time. The effect is observed already on the third day of use.

The oil may have a negative effect on the skin, so a sensitivity test must be performed before use. To do this, apply a drop of oil to your wrist and wait 10 minutes. If there is no redness, then you can use it without consequences.

It is also recommended to add tea tree oil to creams and masks. It will only enhance the effect of the epidermis care product. For a small number of rashes, it is recommended to apply the oil pointwise.

Is mesotherapy and plasma therapy used for acne?

Mesotherapy involves the introduction under the skin of therapeutic cocktails, which contain minerals, antibiotics, amino acids and vitamins. They help narrow pores, normalize the functioning of the sebaceous glands, and improve the overall condition of the skin.

Another procedure that can be useful for acne is plasma therapy. The method is based on the introduction of platelet autoplasma under the skin. It has a targeted effect on problem areas and helps reduce inflammatory processes. But these popular injection techniques have some contraindications:170

  • allergy to individual components of meso-cocktails;
  • skin infections;
  • inflammatory formations on the face.

Typically, courses of beauty injections are carried out at the end of acne treatment to saturate the skin with vitamins, minerals and other beneficial substances that contribute to its restoration.

Steaming with herbs

Steam cleaning of the epidermis helps eliminate all impurities not only on the surface of the skin, but also in the pores. Steam cleaning is recommended to be carried out once a day, preferably at night, daily until improvements appear.

After the effect of use is noticeable (30% of rashes go away), reduce the number of procedures to 2 times a week.

Steam cleaning is carried out using the following technology:

  • Before the procedure, it is good to clean your face using washing gel or natural laundry soap. It is recommended to wash with slightly hot moisture using your fingertips. Afterwards, carefully pat the cover dry with a paper towel.
  • Place 1 liter of liquid on the fire and bring to a boil. As soon as the moisture begins to actively evaporate, the container must be removed from the heat. It is recommended to add tea tree, lavender or fir oils to it. They have antibacterial and soothing effects.
  • You need to bend over a container with hot liquid so that your head is no closer than 30 cm to the source of steam. Cover with a large towel. You should spend at least 10 minutes above the steam.
  • After the steaming procedure, the epithelium will be ready for a new cleansing. It is recommended to use light cleansing foams without abrasive particles. To finish cleansing, rinse with ice water or wipe with an ice cube.

This cleansing helps remove even internal acne. Steam helps expand pores and remove all impurities. Oils added to the liquid kill microbes that cause pus to form and soothe inflammation.

Main types of post-acne

Scars are formed after inflammatory processes that affect fairly deep layers of the skin and are often accompanied by complex and long-term removal of pus to the surface (under such conditions, areas of the skin affected by prolonged inflammation have time to deform). Scars are also often the result of independent attempts to “eliminate” pimples by squeezing them out. Scars are normotrophic (normal structure), atrophic (with a resulting tissue deficiency, look like depressions in the skin) and hypertrophic (rising above the surface of the skin). All types of scars may differ from the main skin color (be lighter or darker).

Atrophic scars affect the epidermis and papillary layer of the dermis, and hypertrophic and keloid scars are formed due to inflammation of the reticular layer of the dermis and are chipped, rectangular, and rounded in shape.

Acne is characterized by retracted or “chipped” scars (ice-pick scars, which resemble a chip in appearance). Typically, such scars are small, up to 2 mm in diameter. Sometimes they look like deep pits with steeply sloping walls. When the skin is stretched, soft scars are smoothed out, but hard scars are not. Chipped scars can change in size, increasing and turning into depressed fibrotic - rounded and larger pits with vertical non-converging walls. Superficial scars have a depth of 0.1–0.5 mm, deep ones - over 0.5 mm. Retracted or depressed scars are sometimes compared to punched-out scars. Depressed scars can have a rounded shape (rolled scar), rounded or oblong outlines, they are soft to the touch, their walls smoothly transition to the main level of the skin.

Vascular spots (dyschromia) occur after disruption of normal microcirculation in these areas of the skin and unsuccessful attempts to squeeze out pimples. They have different colors: burgundy, crimson, bluish. Telangiectasia may also appear on inflamed skin.

Honey

Honey has antiseptic and anti-inflammatory properties. The product heals wounds and eliminates redness. To use honey against acne at home, you need to make masks based on it.

Honey can be used in the fight against rashes in different ways:

  • In its pure form, apply heated honey to cleansed affected areas. Leave the product for 25 minutes and rinse with warm moisture.
  • Mix 1 tablespoon of honey with 2 aspirin tablets and apply to the affected areas. Leave the mixture for 15 minutes and rinse off.
  • Mix honey with 1 tablespoon of garlic juice and apply all over the skin. Leave the mask on for 10 minutes and remove with a damp towel. Afterwards wash your face as usual.
  • Mix soda with liquid honey and apply to steamed areas with lesions. Leave the mixture for 20 minutes and rinse off.
  • Dilute honey and freshly squeezed lemon juice in equal proportions and apply to cleansed skin. Cover the top with a hot towel and leave for 15 minutes. Then remove the mixture with a damp cloth and wash using your usual methods.

It is recommended to use honey masks 2 times a week. To achieve greater effect, it is worth alternating different recipes.

Acne lotion for teenagers

At home, you can prepare a lotion that helps eliminate rashes on the face.

To make it you need the following ingredients:

  • mineral water – 0.5 l.;
  • chopped chamomile – 4 tbsp.

Mix chamomile with liquid and heat over heat. The mixture should not be brought to a boil. When steam appears above the surface, the pan must be removed from the heat. Cool the liquid and pour into a convenient container. Keep refrigerated.

Use throughout the day. Especially in the morning and evening after washing.

Instead of chamomile, you can add green tea, calendula and oak bark. Tea tree oil and aspirin are also added to the lotion.

It is also recommended to make lotions from this lotion. To do this, gauze is soaked in the solution and applied to the steamed cover for 15 minutes. This will help immediately calm inflammation and reduce redness.

Toothpaste

Regular toothpaste will help you get rid of acne at home in 1 day. The main thing is to take a natural product without sodium lauryl sulfate. It may cause irritation.

To remove the rash in a short time, you need to apply a small amount of toothpaste to the pimple. If there are several of them, then you need to cover all the blackheads. Leave the paste overnight. The silicon dioxide contained in toothpaste dries out the pimple well and can eliminate it in 1 night.

This method works if there are not many rashes. If the epithelium is heavily affected by acne, it is not recommended to apply toothpaste to the entire surface of the affected areas.

Egg white for teenagers

Chicken egg white effectively tightens pores, preventing the formation of blackheads. It also perfectly eliminates excess sebum, various types of pigmentation, and acne scars. The effect of using protein in the fight against acne is noticeable immediately after the first procedure. The skin becomes matte and lighter.

To make a mask from chicken protein for acne, you need to carefully separate the material from the yolk. Then beat until thick foam in a mixer and apply with a brush to clean, steamed dermis. The cosmetic product should be left on for up to 20 minutes, otherwise it will dry out the skin. It is important to wash off the ingredients from your face with cool water; using hot water will cause the protein to curdle.

This method is not suitable for those with dry skin. That is why it is ideal for teenagers, since during the period of active rash their skin is very oily.

You can add auxiliary products such as honey, salt, tea tree oil, lemon or aspirin to the already whipped protein. They are also advised to wash their face instead of gel; to do this, add a disinfectant to the mixture and apply to the skin with massaging movements. This homemade gel will help to gently cleanse the skin and eliminate obvious problems with inflammation.

Endogenous (internal) causes of acne and methods of treatment

A diagnostic examination can reveal the following causes of skin rashes:

  • failure of the endocrine system. In this case, treating acne yourself is strictly prohibited;
  • diseases of the digestive system. Treatment is carried out with medications and diet;
  • prolonged stress. Acne disappears after taking sedatives and changing your attitude towards the problem.

Skin rashes can appear in adolescents during puberty, in girls in the first days of the menstrual cycle, in women during pregnancy. In this case, there is no need to treat acne; it is enough to follow normal hygiene rules.
