How to get rid of whiteheads on face at home

Whiteheads are located under the skin and may be accompanied by redness and pain. The main areas of location are on the chin, cheeks, wings of the nose, forehead, and often cover the eyes and eyelids. Removing whiteheads at home is very difficult without special cosmetic tools. But it is possible to cure it with home remedies, as well as by following the rules of facial care.

Milia: what is it?

Whiteheads have a scientific name - milia, which are a collection of subcutaneous secretions from the sebaceous gland. A tubercle or millet, as it is popularly called, is formed due to clogging of the pore with sweat and skin particles.

It is as a result of this phenomenon that most of the acne is observed on the eyelids and cheeks. The eyelids suffer from frequent use of decorative cosmetics, and the cheeks suffer from constant rubbing with hands.

Education mechanism

The appearance of a white rash on the surface of the face or body is caused by a variety of provoking factors.

However, the mechanism of their appearance is always similar: due to the increased activity of the subcutaneous glands, pores begin to become clogged with sebaceous plugs, fatty secretions mix with dead skin cells, thickening occurs and a white nodule forms on the skin.

A white rash appears on various parts of the face, cervical region, back, chest and other parts of the body. This rash appears mainly in people with oily skin.

When pathogenic microflora actively multiply in the contents of the plugs, the small rash will increase in size and turn into a closed comedon, prone to inflammation.

Reasons for appearance

The main reason for the formation of milia is a violation in the renewal of skin cells - there is an untimely exfoliation of dead cells, which clog the pores.

Often millet is observed in newborns. This is due to the unformed system of natural replacement of the epidermis. Over time, everything is restored, so you should not resort to serious elimination measures.

In adults, the reasons may be much more serious than just a disrupted system of exfoliation of dead cells.

The following factors are highlighted here:

  • infectious skin diseases;
  • burn injuries - often occur upon contact with plants;
  • allergic manifestation;
  • exposure to ultraviolet radiation for a long time - thickening of the skin and disruption of the exfoliation of dead cells occurs;
  • use of chemical peeling;
  • use of a steroid drug - applying the product to the face;
  • preference for oil-based cosmetics.

Often the cause of whiteheads is a hormonal imbalance - this occurs not only in adolescents, but also in adults, which is associated with hormonal therapy or taking medications that provoke such problems.

Why do painful acne appear?

According to most doctors, there are 2 main reasons why acne appears on the face - excessive secretion of male sex hormones (androgens) or their excessive effect on the body and the level of secretion of the sebaceous glands, depending on genetic predisposition. Dermatologists identify a number of factors that contribute to the production of androgens and the launch of the genetic mechanism:

  • diseases of the endocrine system, obesity;
  • hormonal imbalance associated with the menstrual cycle in women and pregnancy;
  • taking hormonal medications (including contraceptives), anti-tuberculosis medications;
  • in women involved in strength sports, when painful acne appears on the face, the reason may lie in the use of anabolic steroids in combination with B vitamins to build muscle mass;
  • improper skin care, use of comedogenic cosmetics, excessive cleanliness and abuse of alcohol lotions;
  • dietary habits, in which the majority of the diet consists of foods with a high level of carbohydrates;
  • lack of microelements and vitamins, primarily zinc and vitamin A;
  • mechanical damage to the skin (micro-wounds, scratching), making it easier for bacteria to penetrate the sebaceous ducts;
  • hypothermia and overheating equally.

This is not a complete list of reasons and some of them have not yet been fully established.

How to get rid

There are two ways to get rid of this type of acne - treat it at home yourself or go to a cosmetology office. Contacting a specialist is recommended in the presence of large accumulations.

Treatment: features and requirements

Elimination of whiteheads should be treated responsibly and the following factors should be taken into account:

  • It will not be possible to completely remove milia at home - this can only be done efficiently by a specialist using special devices; home removal leads to their even greater spread;
  • the clot is removed with special tools - a needle, a loop and a spoon - only they make it possible to completely remove the clot;
  • upon completion of the procedure, the face is treated with a disinfectant;
  • It is better to carry out constant cleansing of pores with peeling or hardware procedures if there is a predisposition to the formation of whiteheads;
  • self-removal of bumps at home requires the use of talkers or topical ointments with antimicrobial properties;
  • Before removing the bumps yourself, you should undergo an examination to identify the cause of their formation;
  • Whiteheads should not be squeezed out, especially in areas with thin skin.

It is forbidden to squeeze out blackheads on the lip and in the eye area. The skin here is thin, which means it can be easily injured. In such places, even specialists use gentle cleansing.

Home treatment

Self-removal of whiteheads at home can be done in two main ways - by piercing the blackheads or using special compositions for drying the bumps and then removing them.

The first method involves piercing the tubercles, which occurs in the following sequence:

  1. You should first steam your face - prepare a chamomile infusion (pour 3 tablespoons with a liter of boiling water and boil for 3-5 minutes). Stay above the resulting steam for 20 minutes.
  2. Next, treat your face with lotion.
  3. Take a thin needle and disinfect it with alcohol.
  4. Start piercing the blackheads with a needle.
  5. After wrapping a napkin around your fingers, start squeezing out acne - do not press hard on the bumps, so as not to cause damage to the epidermis.
  6. After complete removal of the blackhead, it is necessary to treat the area with iodine or another colorless disinfectant.

If there is a large accumulation of whiteheads, it is recommended to use the second method - peeling the skin for subsequent removal of the epidermis layer. This is also necessary for subsequent prevention.

For the procedure, the product “Badyaga” is used - this is a rather interesting and effective facial scrub, which was used back in Soviet times.

To use the product you must do the following:

  1. Mix the product powder with 3% hydrogen peroxide. It is important to achieve the consistency of a thick ointment.
  2. Apply the resulting mixture to your face, avoiding the skin around the eyes. If whiteheads are localized, then only the affected area should be treated.
  3. After drying the mixture on your face, you need to moisten the swab in water and blot your skin. These actions are carried out for 20 minutes. During the presented procedure, a burning sensation is felt, which is normal in this case.
  4. Finally, rinse off the mask with water.

The presented actions require caution to avoid injury to the skin of the face.

Removal in salon

The salon uses the following methods for removing whiteheads:

  • Mechanical processing is the same principle as at home. The specialist uses only special tools that make it possible to most effectively remove the contents of the tubercles.
  • Ultrasonic treatment – for 15-20 minutes, problematic skin is exposed to ultrasonic rays that penetrate into the deep layers of the epidermis, cleansing the pores.
  • Vacuum – treatment is carried out under the influence of vacuum, the principle of which is to pull dirt out of the pores. The presented method has a positive effect on general blood circulation and increased tone.
  • Galvanic is the effect of electric current, due to which the sebaceous plugs are softened and all accumulated fat is melted.

The choice of method directly depends on the situation - if acne is collected around the eyes, ultrasonic treatment is preferably used. If the bumps are in small quantities, a mechanical method is used.

Treatment options for clear liquid for pimple and acne

Consider having your doctor or dermatologist provide you with some kind of medicated ointment that will dry out the pimple so that it breaks away from itself.

You can also try some home remedies to deal with it yourself.

  • You can use Aloe Vera gel to apply on pimples so that it dries in a few days. You will notice the result overnight and eventually the pimple will dry out in a few days.
  • Water can also be very helpful in getting rid of acne Make sure you wash your face 3 – 4 times a day and also drink plenty of water to cleanse your body from within.

You can use apple cider vinegar with water in a 1:3 ratio and apply it to the affected area to help the pimple heal. This ensures that your pimple dries out soon, preventing water from escaping from the inflamed pimple.

Aloe Vera gel has been shown to be quite an effective home remedy for treating the bacteria found in pimples. This will ensure that its antioxidant properties are delivered to the affected area and hence will ultimately lead to the disappearance of the pimple.

Features of whitehead removal

Depending on the location of the problem, there are specifics for eliminating it.

On the face

The above methods are suitable for removing acne on the face without affecting the skin around the eyes. Often, 2-3 procedures performed independently at home are enough to eliminate the problem.

Under the eyes

The areas of skin around the eyes are the most sensitive, so using the methods presented here is dangerous. The exception is ultrasound treatment, which requires a careful approach and influence only on the tubercle itself.

It is better to use traditional methods and get rid of acne using solutions of fruit acids. They are applied to dry the sebaceous plug, which gradually removes itself with regular hygiene.

On the nose

The skin on the nose, despite its structure, is also susceptible to injury. Therefore, if whiteheads appear on the nose, it is recommended to steam the skin and partially squeeze out the sebaceous accumulation, after piercing them with a needle.

During squeezing, do not use your nails - these tubercles are squeezed out more easily than others, so a gentle massage with your fingers is sufficient. It should be performed 2 hours before leaving the house, so that during this time all the redness will go away.

On the forehead

The forehead is more susceptible to clogged pores, especially in the summer. In this case, it is better to pay all attention to prevention rather than permanent removal.

Wipe your forehead with alcohol lotions, which will help eliminate sebaceous secretions and will not cause the pores to expand, which cosmetic products often do.

On the labia

On the labia, whiteheads often go unnoticed. The fight against them comes down to using drying products, as well as maintaining daily hygiene.

In the presented situation, it is also recommended to determine the cause of the trouble. Perhaps regular removal of vegetation in the pubic area will help get rid of the problem.

On the dick

The appearance of whiteheads on the penis is often due to infection, so you should undergo an examination before treatment. If infection is confirmed, the doctor will prescribe appropriate treatment.

If there is no infection, it is important to begin immediate treatment with the use of antifungals and other antibacterial ointments. Often men resort to instrumental removal - in this case, laser treatment is used.

Photos before and after

In a newborn

The reason for the appearance of acne in a newborn has already been discussed above. In this case, it is not necessary to use serious treatment - it is better to wait until everything returns to normal.

If a child is bothered by itching, then he should be shown to a doctor. Perhaps the rash will turn out to be an allergic manifestation that needs to be treated urgently and comprehensively - using local and general therapy.

How to treat facial acne at home? The answer is here.

Whiteheads are not dangerous to humans and their skin. However, they significantly spoil the appearance. Often their manifestation is noticeable when the skin is stretched - this is the initial stage when treatment does not require painstaking actions. In this case, it is recommended to use steaming of the facial skin and treatment with a special drying agent.

Types of inflammatory elements

Acne on the face can be of several types:

  • Comedones open and closed. Open comedones are the well-known blackheads; closed comedones, also called prosyanka, are white round-shaped compactions located under the skin.
  • Papule. This element is a dense, hollow, red tubercle that rises above the skin. It does not form pus, and it may go away on its own within a few weeks or transform into a pustular element.
  • Pustule. An inflammatory pimple with a cavity inside filled with pus. Tubercles. Such elements are formed in the last stages of the disease. They lie deep in the dermis and, as they develop, come to the surface of the skin, acquiring a spherical shape. The most severe form is considered to be spherical or conglobate acne, which affects not only the skin, but also fatty tissue.
  • Cysts. Despite the traffic jams, the sebaceous glands work and secrete a secret that stretches the ducts and increases the glands themselves in volume and cysts form. They very often become inflamed with the formation of pus and turn into bluish deep nodules, called cystic acne.

With the evolution of any element of acne, as a rule, the abscess opens, the pus is rejected and a scar forms.

Traditional methods of treatment

Traditional medicine can be used as an additional treatment for painful rashes. If a pimple hurts and there is severe redness, it is recommended to apply an aloe leaf to the inflamed area overnight. By morning, the pain will subside and the redness will become noticeably less.

As an auxiliary therapy, rubbing inflamed rashes with herbal decoctions is encouraged. Chamomile has a good calming, antiseptic and anti-inflammatory effect. The plant can also be used as a lotion.

What can painful acne on the face mean?

Acne on the face is a signal that a malfunction has occurred in the body. Eastern medicine associates a specific area on the face with the condition of internal organs:

  • on the lower jaw, under the chin - malfunction of the gastrointestinal tract, frequent constipation; painful subcutaneous pimples on the face in the temporal region - problems with the liver and bile ducts;
  • acne running in a vertical stripe on the cheeks - the likelihood of kidney pathologies;
  • Pimples under the cheekbones in women signal malfunctions of the mammary glands.

Naturally, this is only an assumption by oriental doctors and is absolutely no reason to establish a conclusion based on the location of acne and begin treatment of internal diseases.

Treatment with local medications

If mild to moderate acne is diagnosed, treatment is possible exclusively with local medications. It will be long-term (at least 3 months), but effective.

Products based on azelaic acid (Skinoren), benzoyl peroxide (Baziron AS) and retinoids (Roaccutane) are mainly used. The drugs reduce the secretion of the sebaceous glands, normalize the process of keratinization of epidermal cells and eliminate inflammatory processes.

Local antibiotics are prescribed together with them. They are not used separately as they are effective only against one element in the development of acne – bacteria. The most effective are erythromycin (Zinerit) and clindamycin (Clindamycin).

Curiosin, the main active ingredients of which are hyaluronic acid and zinc, is used to prevent the appearance of scars.

To stop acne from hurting too much, you can try applying Ichthyol ointment at night. It has anti-inflammatory, bactericidal and analgesic effects. User reviews confirm the great effectiveness of ichthyol against painful acne.
