Surely you have heard the “advice for all occasions” that you need to drink at least 2 liters of water a day. Especially for maintaining beauty.
The advice is, of course, wonderful, but not every kidney can handle it. And more and more experts are inclined to believe that this is just a myth. But water can really make your skin clear, glowing, and even delay the appearance of wrinkles. But not just any kind, but a mineral one. Here's how Hollywood beauties use mineral water to take care of themselves!
I would have gone for a swim...
It’s no wonder that mineral springs have attracted the rich and famous for centuries. When used wisely (both externally and internally), mineral water will truly improve your health and even your beauty. Moreover, many famous beauties coquettishly admit in interviews that they wash their face only with precious water. If taking a bath from the expensive Evian or at least Borjomi does not fit into the family budget, do not be upset. You can pamper your skin with regular soda. Include it in your care ritual and you will quickly see how your face has changed. And you can start with these tips from celebrity beauty gurus.
Washing with mineral water
A strange but effective trend that came to us from Asian countries.
The secret to the radiant and tight skin of many beauties is washing with mineral water. This technique is especially popular in Asian countries, where they know everything and a little more about the beauty of the skin. Use "soda" instead of tap water, or even dip your face in a deep container of bubbles for 10-15 seconds, as the Japanese do. Gas bubbles will help deliver oxygen to the deep layers of the skin, which will speed up blood circulation. The result is an even complexion and less pronounced swelling. In addition, they also work as a soft peeling, dissolving impurities. So you can forget about black dots.
How to choose
Girls and women use various cosmetics every day; these products contain about 80 components. At the end of the day, they need to be washed off to allow the skin to rest.
What rules exist when choosing water?
- Initially, when you pick up the bottle, you must make sure that you are buying micellar water, and not tonic, hydrophilic oil or thermal water.
- If you use cosmetics from a specific line, then it is advisable to take water from the same manufacturer. High-quality and responsible companies take the production of cosmetics seriously and try to harmoniously combine all the products they produce.
- Study the composition carefully. Any micellar water does not contain alcohol, fragrances, essential oils, preservatives, or parabens. It is without their addition that water gives the skin lightness and airiness. Usually the liquid is not colored and has no odor.
- Some kind of herbal component can be observed in the composition. It will be suitable for a certain skin type. For example, chamomile and thyme are added to a product for sensitive or dry skin. But you need to take into account that some components may cause allergies, if you have one.
- When choosing a product, you should not rely on advertising. You must choose what is right for you. The most advertised does not mean the best.

Mineral water instead of tonic
Mineral water instead of toner.
If washing your face with bubbles is too much, use mineral water instead of toner. Soak cotton pads in water and wipe your face. The consumption is less, but the result is almost the same. It is believed that the high content of silicon dioxide in mineral water strengthens the spongy cells between collagen and elastin fibers, which slows down the formation of wrinkles.

This liquid removes eye makeup well and also cleanses the skin. With prolonged use, the condition of the skin improves significantly, does not irritate the mucous membrane of the skin, and is not an allergen. It soothes the skin at the end of the day, making it soft and light. The active ingredients are caffeine, jojoba oil, jasmine extract and hyaluronic acid. This tonic consists of 95% natural herbal ingredients. Like the previous remedy, there is a drawback. This is not a very convenient dispenser. The opening principle is similar to some shampoos: you press the lid with your finger, the lid opens 30 degrees. The tonic is quite liquid, so squeezing out the water is not very convenient, it spills.
- Garnier micellar water. The water is produced by a French company. The cost of Garnier micellar water is 270 rubles. This type cleanses well even makeup that used waterproof creams and mascaras. This water is suitable for any skin type. Garnier moisturizes the skin very well, softens it, and there is no smell. The skin becomes well-groomed and soft.

Storage
Limited shelf life, quality, availability... Not every essential oil has its own hydrosol. As a rule, hydrolates are ordered from a specialized pharmacy, but their quantity there is very limited - after all, this is a perishable product! Some hydrolates disappear even faster than others: for example, lemon balm or thyme hydrolate (thuyanol chemotype) is never on sale - they have too limited a shelf life. In addition, this is also economically unprofitable for suppliers, since hydrolates are much cheaper than essential oils. Transporting the plants used for distillation to the other side of the world - for example, to New Zealand - would cost three times more than the cost of the hydrosol itself, which would lead to an extremely high price for the final product. Moreover, during transportation on the plane alone, a whole colony of bacteria would have developed in the hydrosol, which would have made the product unfit for consumption. Hence the result: the quality of commercially available hydrolates varies greatly; however, the same can be said about essential oils! The label must contain all the necessary information: Latin name, origin of the product, distinctive features, etc.
The name “Lavender Hydrolate” alone will clearly not be enough! What type of lavender? For what purpose should it be used? Please also pay attention to the composition of the product you are purchasing: it is believed that the hydrolate contains from 2 to 3% essential oil. But sometimes it is 5%, but sometimes it is 0.5%. In fact, in the hydrolate that is obtained at the beginning of distillation (this is the first 15 minutes, corresponding to approximately 8 liters of water), the concentration of active substances is much higher than in the hydrolate at the final stage of distillation, when the plant has nothing left to “give”. So, be picky - don't just buy the first product you see anywhere!
- Add a natural preservative - 0.1% Citric acid, 0.5% sodium benzoate and potassium sorbate. This will allow you to preserve Hydrolate for 18 months.
- Use a simple preservative system - add 20% (20 ml per 100 ml) alcohol to give your Hydrolate a 12 month shelf life.
Hydrosol should be stored in a cool, dark place at all times. Cooling is recommended if possible.
Advantages
Having a significantly lower concentration of active substances compared to essential oils, hydrolates are easier to use for self-medication: there is absolutely no risk of negative consequences, and they are ideal for children and weakened patients.
Trust your senses We already know that hydrosols spoil quickly.
After opening, the bottle must be stored in a cool place and used within 6 months (sometimes less). Otherwise, all its antimicrobial molecules will be destroyed by microbes and other parasites: the fact is that distilled water completely lacks nutritional elements, and bacteria can only exist due to these organic residues - and they do not deny themselves this! Finding out whether your bottle is already “infected” or not is very simple - just smell its contents. Does your hydrosol smell like nothing else? — Microbes have destroyed all the active components of essential oils, and now you can throw away the bottle. Does the hydrolate have a sour smell, reminiscent of vinegar? - This means that microbes have changed its chemical composition - it’s time to throw the bottle in the trash! Does the hydrosol still have a pleasant aroma? “Nothing bad happened to it, and you can still use it.”
There is another way to check whether the product has deteriorated - visually. It happens that thin fibers that shimmer in the light are formed in the liquid. If you notice them, then feel free to throw away the bottle - the hydrosol is already gone! The liquid must remain absolutely clean and transparent.
The usual dosage of 98% water is used universally over a long period and as often as we want - there is no risk whether you use them neat or dilute them.
Instructions for use
- Buy only high-quality hydrolates (without impurities and sediments, not diluted with water, without pesticides and other harmful substances).
- When producing hydrolates, we are not talking about extracting the discarded essential oil fraction, but about using another, qualitatively different substance for other purposes. In order for the concentration of active and aromatic (the smell should be quite strong) molecules in the hydrolate to be sufficient, the first 8 liters of distilled liquid are required. Subsequent liters are of no interest, which does not prevent unscrupulous manufacturers from selling them.
- As always, you have to pay for quality. A very cheap hydrosol (costing less than 450 rubles for 200 ml) cannot be of good quality - it has either been diluted, or the concentration of active substances in it is negligible, or it has not been purified, etc. You thought you made a good deal, but in the end it turned out to be far from true!
- Handle hydrosols with care. The bottle should not be located anywhere - for example, at the bottom of a woman's bag. Do not touch the liquid in the bottle with your hands: first pour it onto a piece of cloth or moisten cotton wool with it. Close the bottle carefully immediately after use.
- The volume of liquid used has nothing to do with essential oils. They are used everywhere and as often as desired, without the slightest risk.
- Store in the refrigerator: most of them do not lose their quality for many months, but subject to strict storage conditions.
- Do not buy tonics in large quantities. You should start using them within a month from the date of purchase. It’s better to buy another bottle of “fresh” hydrosol than to risk the old one, which is rapidly losing its properties.
- It should not be considered that hydrolate is an almost complete replacement for essential oils, but only in a more gentle form. For example, the smell of hydrosol has nothing in common with the smell of essential oil. Just smell both products - you will be surprised! The smell in most cases will be a little pungent, dull, reminiscent of fresh earth - the sensation can be very pleasant, but completely different compared to the intoxicating aroma of essential oils. Do not refuse to purchase hydrosol under the pretext that its smell seems abnormal to you.
- Hydrolate fully corresponds to the idea of an iron hand in a velvet glove. It is very mild and highly perishable (especially when exposed to heat and light and when exposed to dirt particles), but at the same time extremely effective. Hydrolates expand the scope of aromatherapy.
- As a rule, the mildness of the effect allows the use of hydrolates in their pure form. But for daily use of hydrolates for hygienic or cosmetic purposes (for example, to refresh and heal the skin), it is recommended to dilute the hydrolate in spring water - 50% hydrolate and 50% spring water.
- You will get an excellent cosmetic product, very economical and 100% natural - your skin will surely love it!
