Beeswax for facial skin. Face masks with wax.

ShareTweetVkOdnoklassniki

Eternal youth, like ideal beauty, is something from the realm of science fiction. Wax-based facial masks will not make you a Hollywood beauty. Yes, this is not necessary - where are all the screen stars put together compared to the natural beauty of Russian women! But it is possible and necessary to fight the signs of skin aging, wrinkles, puffiness, dryness and other “traces of time”. A wax mask is suitable for women of all generations: mothers, grandmothers, granddaughters. The only obstacle may be increased sensitivity to bee products. But for such women, there are options for cosmetic masks with a similar effect.

Bees provide more than just delicious honey...

Let's start with security. Beeswax is officially recognized throughout the world as a food additive that is harmless to health (E901). It is added to confectionery products (sweets, chocolate, nuts), and covers cheeses and fruits (apples, peaches, pears, etc.) so that the products do not dry out and are better preserved during transportation. And in medicine and pharmacology, wax is included in ointments and medicinal plasters for ulcers, wounds and burns.

Rich in vitamin A, this complex mixture of fatty acids and natural alcohols is made up of approximately 50 different chemical compounds. Moreover, only young individuals aged from 10 to 20 days can produce it. Scientists have still not been able to create a similar composition under artificial conditions while preserving all the beneficial properties. There is:

  • saturated hydrocarbons;
  • fatty acid;
  • carotenoids (beeswax contains more carotene than any other product);
  • antibiotics;
  • bactericidal components;
  • minerals, vitamin A.

Do not confuse the composition of regular candles with beeswax. Candles consist mainly of paraffin and stearin with various additives.

What types of wax are there?

Real beeswax comes in all shades of yellow, from warm white to dark yellow. And if the mixture contains propolis, it may even have a greenish tint. But stores sell special, well-purified beeswax for the face. There is a completely white one, but it can also be a rich yellow color (foundation). The best wax is obtained after melting under the sun (without additional heating), and it becomes white under the influence of the sun's color. The price difference between them is small, and both compositions work almost identically.

Important! It is best to purchase wax at a pharmacy or specialty store. You can also find this product on the market, but how pure will it be?

Keep in mind that there are many other varieties of wax available in stores (Candelilla, Carnauba, Jojoba, etc.), but these are not bee products and are intended primarily for making handmade soaps and candles.

For cosmetic procedures, instead of wax, purified paraffin of the highest quality (a petroleum product) is sometimes used. It has a melting point slightly lower than natural wax, which avoids burns when applying the mask to the face. This is an ideal option for those who do not tolerate bee products well. The only danger of using paraffin may be an allergy to additives.

How is wax beneficial for the skin?

The benefits of beeswax for facial skin lie in its properties.
By forming a thin film on the skin, it prevents its dehydration. After all, loss of moisture is the key to the appearance of wrinkles, dryness and rashes. This useful product is able to maintain optimal balance in cells, which guarantees smoothness, even color and slows down the aging process. Beeswax has a powerful antiseptic effect on pathogenic microorganisms. It serves as a protective barrier against bacteria and contaminants. The bee product cleanses and tightens pores, stimulates collagen production, saturates the skin with vitamins A, E, C and group B. The unique property of this product is its ability to protect the skin without clogging the pores.

Beeswax performs a number of functions:

  • eliminates excessive dryness and flaking;
  • reduces redness;
  • heals sunburns;
  • softens;
  • levels the surface;
  • eliminates acne;
  • improves blood circulation;
  • helps cope with eczema.

Foundation is considered the ideal basis for making homemade masks. Wax care has no age restrictions: it is equally useful for both young and aging skin.

The beekeeping product is suitable for almost everyone, it is well absorbed and does not lead to irritation. The only exception is allergic reactions to it. Natural yellow wax has the greatest cosmetic value, since it contains the most vitamin A.

The composition of bee products is very complex. It is rich in minerals, hydrocarbons, carboxylic acids, esters, and alcohols. It can handle the following problems:

  • fat imbalance of facial skin;
  • acne, pimples, comedones;
  • excessive dryness;
  • weakened protection of the upper skin;
  • sensitive skin characterized by irritation and redness;
  • peeling and itching.

A wax mask helps against wrinkles, accelerates cell regeneration, smoothes and tightens. Small scars after acne and acne go away.

How does a wax mask work?

When a layer of wax is applied to the skin of the face, a kind of sauna is created underneath. The skin heats up a couple of degrees and this is enough for sweat to start coming out of the pores. But since there is nowhere for the liquid to evaporate (the wax reliably blocks the access of air), we get something like a sauna for a separate area of the skin.

And then very interesting things begin to happen. Together with sweat, dirt, toxins, impurities are washed out of the pores - everything that prevents us from maintaining healthy skin and a blooming appearance. A little time passes, the wax layer begins to lose temperature, and the liquid that comes out of the pores is absorbed again. But! Water molecules are noticeably smaller than molecules of toxins and waste. Therefore, when the skin cools down, the pores narrow, and only a small molecule of water can “leak” through them, while everything else remains “overboard.”

In short, we get water purified from impurities, which moisturizes the skin, and the cooled mask tightens the pores, preventing the liquid from evaporating immediately. Sweat is released unevenly on different parts of the face, but the liquid is absorbed mainly in dry places. Thus, moisture is evenly distributed over the entire surface.

As a result of this procedure we get:

  • cleansed, renewed and well-moisturized skin;
  • tightened facial contour;
  • good skin tone (heating and cooling act as a kind of hardening and light massage);
  • at least half an hour of peace, a good mood from a pleasant vacation.

Important! Wax-based face masks are suitable for any woman. Only additional components change.

Beeswax in cosmetology is suitable not only for masks. It is part of lipstick, cream, gloss, sunscreen and other products.

Preparation of creams and face masks based on beeswax

A hair mask with egg and honey is considered a good recipe, and to prepare a nourishing cream mask that will rejuvenate the skin and get rid of small wrinkles, you will need:

  • Beeswax - teaspoon.
  • Honey - a teaspoon.
  • Rosehip oil - a tablespoon.
  • Wheat oil - teaspoon.
  • Onion juice – two tablespoons.
  • All components must be mixed, heated for 1 minute, removed and stirred.
  • Get rid of the mask with a napkin, then wash with warm water.
  • In cases where the skin is oily, you need to replace the onion juice with lemon.

If your facial skin is flaky or chapped, you need to prepare the following mask:

  • Melted wax teaspoon.
  • Butter - a tablespoon.
  • Carrot juice - a tablespoon, you can replace it with cucumber or zucchini juice.
  • Heat the mixture, mix again, apply warm to the skin of the face, leave for up to half an hour.

How to prepare a mask

Let's start with the safety rules:

  1. The wax mixture is applied warm. Check the temperature of the compound on your wrist first. Make sure it doesn't burn your face.
  2. Do not apply a mask (never of any kind!) to the areas around the eyes. Thin skin in these places is very easy to injure.
  3. Wax is highly flammable. Do not leave the wax mixture unattended on the fire to avoid fire.
  4. It is more convenient to use crushed wax. If you have a large piece at hand, grate it or remove the shavings with a knife.
  5. For melting, use enamel, glass or stainless steel containers. Wax acids can form harmful salts with aluminum, cast iron, and copper.

Starting from 35 degrees, the wax becomes plastic, and after 62 ° C it already melts. Therefore, to make a mask at home:

  • It is enough to heat the wax in a water bath;
  • add components with the necessary properties (essential oils, honey, natural juices, etc.) to the container, depending on the purpose of the composition;
  • It is better to warm up these additives a little too (at least hold them in a spoon over the fire) so that no lumps appear when mixing.

You need to mix thoroughly. There are compositions that can even be whipped with a mixer. It is more convenient to apply the mixture with a brush, but you can also use your fingers. In salons, gauze is often placed over the mask with holes for the eyes, nose and mouth, and another layer is applied on top. But it will not be easy to cope with such a task on your own. If you have a faithful friend, entrust this operation to her.

How to amaze everyone with your beauty or The use of beeswax in natural cosmetics

I do not prepare cosmetics; my priority is medicinal products. Therefore, here I present a selection of materials from the Internet - I tried so hard solely to please women (for obvious reasons, I do not provide links). But since I know very well the properties of beekeeping products, as well as many of the natural ingredients recommended below, I selected only those recipes with which I could completely agree. These methods of preparing natural cosmetics will not cause damage to beeswax when heated, when interacting with dishes, the wrong choice of which often nullifies all efforts. Moreover, these recipes are very simple.

Of course, none of the lovely ladies forgets that all new cosmetics should be tested in the crook of the arm. All allergy sufferers know that the use of these and similar remedies should be started with extreme caution so that beauty, which always requires sacrifices, does not ultimately achieve them.

Well, multi-component creams, masks and other products that require a lot of experience, skill, time and various ingredients, and, without a doubt, are no less high-quality, are prepared by our masters at YaM.

Using beeswax for face and hair

I’m opening a topic about natural ingredients used in cosmetics, and let’s try to prepare a few homemade self-care products. Let's look at the main ways to use beeswax for the face and hair and try to implement recipes for easy-to-make creams and masks. In making homemade cosmetics, there are a number of important nuances that must be taken into account in order to prepare a high-quality skin care product.

How to Prepare Beeswax for Further Use

Beeswax melts already at a temperature of 63-65°C, but it is strictly not recommended to do this in a metal container. Indeed, when heated, fatty acids and esters begin to interact with the metal, forming salts that adversely affect the quality of the final product. So:

  • We use only enameled, ceramic or heat-resistant glassware.
  • The wax is easily crushed with a grater or it can be thinly planed with a knife - this will make it more convenient to work with it in the future.
  • Melt it in a steam bath, stirring continuously, over very low heat.
  • If we use essential oils together with wax, we test them on the crook of the arm to make sure that there is no allergy to them.

Face masks with beeswax

Cosmetological procedures using beekeeping products have always been and will be in demand in caring for the skin of the face, neck and décolleté at home. We all know at least a couple of recipes using honey - after all, it nourishes the skin and stimulates its renewal. But beeswax is an ideal component for cleansing and very deep moisturizing.

Cleansing and toning mask

For the mask, simply melt a tablespoon of wax in a water bath and apply to your face. Allow to cure completely and remove. This mask will significantly improve blood circulation, cleanse pores and restore water balance in the epidermis, thanks to the creation of a greenhouse effect. In addition, you will immediately notice a lifting effect after using beeswax on your face.

Mask for dry and normal skin

Heat half a teaspoon of wax shavings in a water bath, add 1 tbsp. l honey and 1 tsp. olive oil or jojoba, stir until smooth. Let it cool to body temperature and apply a thick layer to thoroughly cleansed facial skin. Leave the mixture on your face for 20 minutes. Wash off the mask with warm water and, if necessary, apply cream. It may not be necessary, since the wax itself perfectly moisturizes and even after washing remains a thin layer on the face. After 5 minutes you will finally understand whether to apply the cream or not.

Anti-age mask for aging skin

Melt half a teaspoon of wax shavings in a steam bath, pour in 1 teaspoon each. olive oil (or flaxseed oil) and avocado oil. Having achieved high-quality mixing, remove from the bath and add 1 tsp. honey

Apply to thoroughly cleansed skin for 20 – 30 minutes. I advise you to lie down and relax, imagining yourself young, with fresh skin without wrinkles, happy... We wash off the composition from the face, like the years have passed. Whether or not to apply cream afterwards is up to you to decide based on how you feel.

Soothing mask for sensitive skin

Heat half a teaspoon of wax shavings in a water bath, remove from the bath and mix with oil. The oil can be either olive or butter. Achieve homogeneity, remove from heat, let cool to body temperature and pour in 1 teaspoon of carrot juice. Stir everything vigorously again. If you choose butter, it should be of the highest quality. Apply the mask to your face and lie down to rest for 20 minutes. Don't rush anywhere, you'll have time to do everything! After resting, wash it off with warm water and enjoy the smoothness of your skin.

Moisturizing mask

For a mask for dehydrated skin, we also need half a teaspoon of wax shavings and 1 teaspoon each of peach (or avocado) oil and glycerin.

First mix peach oil with glycerin, then add this mixture in parts to the melted wax and stir vigorously. Apply to thoroughly cleansed facial skin for 20 minutes. Wash off the composition with warm water. If necessary, we finish the procedure with a good nourishing cream.

Face cream with beeswax

The beauty of home remedies with honeycomb wax is that you can use it not only as a natural component of a wash-off mask, but also create an excellent moisturizer based on the wax, which, fortunately, will be able to be stored for a long time - compared to creams based on decoctions, eggs or dairy products.

Beeswax is a natural emulsifier, remember? You can create any multi-component mixture to care for your skin or hair and improve its properties with this great product from bees. This ingredient in cream will be especially relevant in winter, when we need to protect our skin from dehydration.

Here are the simplest recipes for homemade face creams with beeswax. I know that most of you will not prepare multi-ingredient products due to lack of time and high cost of ingredients. But you will prepare simple compositions, no doubt!

Anti-age cream with beeswax

  • 100 ml olive oil
  • 50 ml coconut oil
  • 10-15 g beeswax
  • 5 vitamin E capsules
  • 20 drops of an essential oil suitable for your purposes (most importantly, do an allergy test!).

Proportions are based on two to three servings. You can reduce the dosage by 2 or 3 times to get a smaller amount of cream. Just remember that the proportions must be maintained. However, you can experiment with the amount of wax: adding a little less of it will make the cream less dense.

Preparation

Place the container with wax shavings in a water bath. Which container should you choose? A porcelain bowl with high sides is quite suitable for this. It will be convenient to place a metal sieve over boiling water and place a bowl in it.

As soon as the wax melts, add coconut oil and, stirring, melt it too. Then pour in the olive oil in a thin stream, stirring constantly. Remove the sieve and bowl from the water bath and continue vigorously stirring the composition. Only a spoon made of stainless steel or food-grade plastic or wood is suitable for this. It’s better to use a mixer (one blade).

As it cools, the cream begins to thicken. Beeswax is a natural emulsifier and thickener. Add vitamin E to the thickened cream (as many capsules as you calculated the amount of cream you need) and essential oils (also in the correct dosage). Essential oils can be selected from the table of essential oils for skin.

We transfer our cream into a jar with a lid, where it will then be stored. You can use a clean container left over from another cosmetic product.

The cream should be homogeneous, with a melting texture. If you apply it to a cold surface, it hardens, but from body heat it instantly heats up, melts and is easy to apply. If you have overdone it a little with wax and the cream does not apply well, heat it again in a steam bath (up to 40 degrees maximum) and mix a tablespoon of olive oil into the cream in small portions. If the wax component is not enough, then melt the component and mix with the cream, achieving homogeneity.

Application

We use the cream after warming it in our hands. Scoop up a small amount with a spatula, hold it in your palm, rub it a little between your palms and gently massage into the skin on your face, neck and décolleté without stretching the skin. With the same success, you can use this composition for the area around the eyes.

Due to the property of wax not to clog pores, the cream can be used in any weather and in any climate, but it is especially good for the cold season.

This cream is stored at room temperature.

Beeswax in hair care

Wax is an excellent hair styling product. Waxed hair becomes smooth, springy and holds its hair perfectly. The esters of the bee product envelop the hair shafts, restore their structure and the hair retains its shape. After hair treatment, the styling lasts a long time.

Hair wax causes mixed reactions. Oily hair already gets dirty quickly, and if you treat it with wax and oil components, then sometimes you will have to wash it even more often. But for dry and damaged hair, this is a true cure!

Although, everyone has a unique organism, with a unique metabolism, peculiarities of the endocrine glands or hormonal system. Therefore, you need to try, look for your own version of homemade beeswax products that are suitable specifically for your body.

Leave-in hair balm

We can make the simplest leave-in hair balm: 2 tbsp. coconut oil, 1 tsp. wax shavings and 5 drops of orange essential oil. Prepare it as a face cream. First, melt and mix the solid ingredients, and then add the orange esters. We apply a small amount of balm to the hair, first rubbing the ends of the hair between the palms, and then spreading it throughout the hairstyle.

In addition to orange esters, you can use any oil suitable for your hair for the balm.

Moisturizing mask for damaged hair with beeswax

If your hair has experienced the stress of perming or repeated dyeing, if your scalp is irritated and dandruff appears periodically, this mask is what you need! Beeswax for hair will strengthen the barrier functions of not only the scalp, but will also literally “glue together” loose hair scales, thereby imparting shine and well-groomed appearance.

Ingredients

  • 1/2 cup wax shavings
  • 1 cup olive oil
  • 1 tbsp. coconut oil
  • 10 drops ylang-ylang essential oil

Preparation

We put the shavings to melt in a steam bath and add the rest of the ingredients to it. As with making cream, stir continuously to obtain a homogeneous mixture. Add ylang-ylang ether to the cooled composition. Pour the cream into a container and let it harden at room temperature. Store in a cool, dry place.

Application

Before use, also warm the mask in your hands so that the soft, pliable composition spreads better through your hair and scalp. Start from the ends, moving gradually higher. Gently rub the cream mask into your hair and leave it on your hair for 30-40 minutes. Then wash off with shampoo. No balm needed!

Here are recipes for the necessary skill in using beeswax for the face and hair, and the simplest recipes have been selected. But they are no less effective than expensive factory products. 100% natural products will help your skin acquire a well-groomed, sleek look, maintain skin moisture and smooth out wrinkles, and your hair will become perfect!

Contraindications

Wax is such a unique product that it has practically no contraindications, with the exception of allergies. If you have ever had a reaction to honey or cosmetics that contain bee products, then you will probably have to replace natural wax with paraffin.

Important! Signs of an allergy may not appear when honey is consumed as food, but when it or natural wax is applied to the skin, redness and burning may occur.

Thus, the benefits and harms of wax-based masks largely depend on the components they contain. Don't forget to test everything you plan to put on your face!
