Over time, a person’s appearance changes, but it is not immediately clear what exactly has changed - external signs of aging are not striking, but they definitely indicate age. The volume on the face disappears, the shadows fall differently, and the image is already different, not like in youth. Even if there are no wrinkles on the forehead, it becomes flat, and this is read by others on an intuitive level. Among the visible signs of aging are a loss of tone in the tragus and earlobe, and the filtrum (two strips connecting the nose and upper lip). The drooping of the eyebrows, when they slide below the brow ridge, makes the look tired.
Surprisingly, a face without wrinkles can be old. Drooping eyebrows, a wrinkled earlobe, a flabby neck, hands and a swollen angle of youth speak eloquently about age. In aesthetic medicine, the concept of “markers of aging” is used - signs by which age is accurately read. Such changes seem insignificant, but they significantly age us.
How the face changes with age
Each type of appearance has its own aging scenario, however, certain periods of life are characterized by similar age-related changes in facial skin.
From 14 to 21 years old, the appearance loses its childish softness. The skin gradually becomes denser, and facial features lose their roundness and become clearer.
The face is finally formed between the ages of 21 and 30. The main influence on the process is character and facial expressions. The outlines become clearer and more pronounced. Signs of aging are practically not observed.
Middle age is characterized by the accumulation of obvious signs of aging. The forehead, corners of the mouth, and eyelids become covered with wrinkles. The features soften, the oval begins to float, the skin loses its elasticity and becomes thinner. Gray hair appears.
Aging at the age of 60 is reflected on the face by firm wrinkles, thin sagging skin or puffy features. The eyes become deep-set, framed by prominent brow ridges. The lines are blurring. Gray hair becomes thinner and becomes significantly smaller.
In old age, the face is completely covered with deep wrinkles. The lips become thinner and become covered with wrinkles. The cheeks are sunken and the skin on them sags even more. An elongated nose looks sharp, and the eyes are small due to sagging eyelids.
Neck laxity
The main signs of neck aging are:
- the appearance of wrinkles on the neck - “rings of Venus” (for more information about the “rings of Venus” see here);
- decreased skin elasticity;
- platysma bands.
A universal method for correcting age-related changes in the neck is biorevitalization. The technique provides instant results and a long-lasting rejuvenation effect. As a result, tissues are tightened, wrinkles are smoothed out, and the water balance in the deep layers of the skin is restored. Compositions with hyaluronic acid, antioxidants, and amino acids are widely used.
Why does the face age?
Externally, the effort of the face is expressed by the appearance of wrinkles and distortion of its features. When studying the issue globally, it becomes clear that the main cause is deformation of the muscles under the skin. They come in two types: mimic and chewing. In different situations (sleep, work, expression of emotions), the behavior of these muscles is quite individual, which serves as the basis for age-related changes in the skin.
The struggle for youth is doomed to failure if you approach the problem superficially or with insufficient knowledge. Having studied in detail the anatomy of the facial muscles, you can target a specific problem. The main difference is the mounting methods. The mimic ones are attached to the bone on one side, and the other flows directly into the skin; the chewing ones are in contact with the bones of the skull with both ends. The appearance of the skin depends on their condition.

Premature aging
A woman gradually gets used to the idea of aging. But if this happens prematurely, then psychological discomfort appears and the usual course of life is disrupted.
Early aging not only decreases self-esteem, but can also affect the attitude of others towards such a person.
The folds of skin around the eyes and between the eyebrows give the face a sullen and angry look. An experiment by researchers at the University of Pennsylvania showed that subjects considered these emotions even in “smiling” photographs of elderly people.
Why does false start occur? The fact is that there is a distinction between biological and chronological (actual) age. Under unfavorable circumstances, there is a gap in these indicators.
The greatest enemy of a youthful face is called the sun's rays, or ultraviolet radiation.
One of the most important components of human skin is hyaluronic acid, which takes part in tissue renewal. When it is exposed to ultraviolet light, inflammation occurs, the rate of breakdown of the substance increases, and synthesis stops. This causes oxidative stress, as a result of which the cell structure and genetic apparatus are destroyed. This process is also called photoaging.
Causes of premature aging of facial skin:
- Unfavorable environmental conditions, when polluted, insufficiently humid air and wind contribute to clogged pores, inflammation, and metabolic disorders.
- Lack of moisture, which changes the structure of the skin. The deficiency cannot be eliminated by drinking, since cosmetics are needed to retain water molecules.
- Bad habits – smoking, alcohol, drugs as a source of toxins. The resulting toxic compounds destroy cells, promote the formation of free radicals, and provoke nutritional deficiency.
- Lack of nutrients and vitamins, participants in metabolic, oxidative, reduction processes, and immune reactions.
- Stress and a busy life schedule, a tendency to workaholism.
- Active facial expressions, habit of wrinkling nose, forehead, eyebrows.
- Improper care, causing loss of moisture, inflammation, with early use of age-related cosmetics, disruption of skin functions.
- Sleep less than 7 hours a day, which is why tissues do not have time to renew themselves.
Early aging is also caused by hormonal imbalance due to diseases of the genital area.
A decrease in estrogen levels provokes the appearance of wrinkles, loss of elasticity, and does not inhibit the growth of adipose tissue. Ozone creates potential risks. Under its influence, the skin loses tocopherol or the vitamin of youth.
Types of aging and their characteristics
All people age according to their individual scenario. Some people turn gray at an early age and their face is covered with a network of wrinkles. And for some, the face significantly loses its shape, but there are only timid hints of wrinkles. It is possible to have a significant impact and slow down the process only by taking into account the individual type of facial aging. Below are the different types of aging and their characteristics.
Tired

The tired or pasty type of aging is characterized by a fresh, rested, fit appearance in the morning and a tired, with noticeable signs of fatigue, in the evening. The causes of this condition are stagnation of fluid in the soft tissues - swelling. Provocateurs are venous stagnation, as well as impaired lymph outflow.
In aging skin, venostasis manifests itself as swelling in the frontal and parietal areas. It is very noticeable when touched with a finger. In addition to private zonal edema, it can manifest itself as a general swelling of the forehead. In this case, the absence of wrinkles is not an indicator of health; on the contrary, due to the volumetric layer between the skin and the skull, they do not have the ability to wrinkle. The presence of any of these symptoms indicates a violation of the outflow of cerebrospinal fluid from the skull.
Lymphostasis causes a violation of the outflow of lymph and its stagnation in the tissues. The presence of a problem is indicated either by general swelling of the face, or by the presence of unpleasant phenomena in the form of bags under the eyes, double chin, swelling of the eyelids, and nasolabial folds.
Baked Apple – finely wrinkled

This type of aging is characterized by the appearance of a large number of fine wrinkles. Their appearance is due to a violation of the outflow of tissue fluids caused by destructive changes in the facial muscles. The function of tissue fluid is to remove skin metabolic products, which, when disrupted, are replaced by waste products. Which leads to the formation of a network of small wrinkles. A similar phenomenon is most often observed on the upper and lower eyelids.
Bulldog cheeks

Sagging skin in the area of the buccal muscle is formed due to general disturbances in the biomechanics of the skull. The cheek muscles are attached to the upper and lower jaws. In the normal position of the jaw, their condition is static. When deformed, they may sag. The appearance of sagging cheeks in old age can be predicted even in youth by the presence of pronounced “nodules” in the corners of the mouth.
Combined

The combined type of facial change with age can combine different types of aging. A special feature is their manifestation in any proportions, as well as the replacement of one with another over time. Measures aimed at improving skin condition should take into account the severity and localization of changes.
Muscular

With the muscular type of aging, changes in the face with age occur at a slow pace; in old age, it remains young and fresh longer. This condition is caused by the presence of well-developed facial muscles and a thin layer of fatty tissue under the skin. Over time, the fat layer becomes thinner, and the skin tightens around the muscles. The shape of the face practically does not change; wrinkles can appear quite clearly.
Old emaciated face
The last stage of aging is an old, worn-out face. This type manifests itself in old age and indicates general destructive changes in the skin. It becomes transparent and changes its shade to yellowish. The number of wrinkles increases noticeably, they become deeper. The chin protrudes forward and the cheeks sink. Dark circles under the eyes are constantly present.
Lip filter
The area is located between the base of the nose and the upper lip. Two stripes that descend vertically from the nose to the lip, as if lifting it up, are called “filtrum columns.” The area has a pronounced relief in youth, which becomes less noticeable over the years. For most people, it disappears completely in old age.
Many people do not even know that the filtrum immediately reveals age; they are more worried about the appearance of such signs of facial aging as purse-string wrinkles. When restoring the tone of the mouth area, cosmetologists also correct the columns of the philtrum. To do this, an elastic thread is inserted into the contour of the upper lip or the strips are filled with hyaluronic acid filler.
Is it possible to prolong youth
Extending youth and stopping age-related changes in the skin on a woman’s face is a rather long and labor-intensive process, but it is quite feasible. Proper care appropriate to your appearance type, maintaining a healthy lifestyle, regular cleansing of the body, proper facial exercises, facial taping, vacuum massage, regular courses of environmentally friendly hardware therapy in the form of biomechanical stimulation will help control the skin condition and avoid significant changes.
Significant changes in appearance with age can be prevented and stopped using the above methods only after consultation with a competent specialist in each area of eco-rejuvenation. The required level of knowledge, fairly narrow specialization and an integrated approach will ensure a sustainable effect of preserving youth despite adulthood.

Foods to prolong youth
What you eat can have a direct impact on the health of not only your skin, but also your hair and nails. To maintain optimal skin health, you need to eat enough vitamins and minerals, avoid fasting and crash diets, and excessive consumption of alcohol and caffeine.
There hasn't been much research done on the benefits of specific foods for skin conditions. But the majority of those existing are unanimous in their opinion. According to scientists, you need to include in your diet:
- Bananas
These fruits are full of potassium, which is important for the proper functioning of muscles, including the heart. Lack of potassium affects the oxygen supply to the brain, and brain problems are a defining marker of aging.
- Nuts
Including a handful of nuts in your daily diet can extend your life due to its beneficial effects on the cardiovascular system. Nuts contain many unsaturated fatty acids, important for the heart and blood vessels, as well as polyphenols, which help rejuvenate the body.
- Fish
Salmon, mackerel, herring, sardines, saury - such fish contain unsaturated omega-3 fatty acids. Their regular consumption has been scientifically proven to improve heart and skin health, and also help reduce the risk of developing dementia.
- Berries
They have increased levels of anthocyanins, substances that suppress inflammatory reactions in the body. For example, pomegranates contain ellagic acid, which is one of the most powerful anti-wrinkle ingredients due to its ability to stimulate the production of collagen, a protein that keeps skin firm.
- Cabbage
All types of cabbage contain the substance glucoraphanin, which is converted into sulforaphane, which reduces the risk of cancer. Broccoli and cauliflower are especially good for youth and beauty.
